1.  There are many different orthotics on the market.  What's the difference?

There are basically only two kinds of orthotics:

  • supportive orthotic, rigid and inflexible, typically made from a cast or mold,

  • corrective orthotic,  has the arches built into the orthotic, and is flexible, to help strengthen the muscles, ligaments, and tendons in the foot.  This restores the arches to where they belong.

They fit in any shoe except a lady's pump with a heel higher than 1 1/2 inches.  In this case, the foot rides forward, and the heel tends to walk out of the shoe.

2.  Where are Ped-Tech orthotics manufactured?

Ped-Tech orthotics are MADE IN CANADA, manufactured in Richmond, BC.

3.  How long do they last?

Ped-Tech orthotics carry a LIFETIME GUARANTEE against breaking, splitting, peeling, cracking, or deformation!

4.  Do they fit in all shoes?

Ped-Tech orthotics are custom made to fit the individual's feet and to correct most foot-related problems.  They fit in any shoe except a lady's pump that has a heel higher than 1 1/2 inches.  In this case, the foot rides forward, and the heel tends to walk out of the shoe.

5.  Do I have to wear them all the time?

The more diligently you wear Ped-Tech orthotics, the more quickly you will see improvement in the arches of your feet.

6.  Will I have to wear them the rest of my life?

Even though the arch problems may be satisfactorily corrected, the Ped-Tech orthotics are so comfortable, you will probably want to wear them as much as possible.

Ped-Tech orthotics are a corrective orthotic, and therefore will help correct the problems in your arches.  Bone structure, like pronation or supination, cannot be corrected, but can be adjusted for with orthotics.

7.  What are some common foot problems?

Pronated foot
Supinated foot
Pronated-supinated foot
High arch
Flat foot
Hammertoes foot
Heel spurs
Morton's Neuroma
Sciatic nerve
Bunion
Calluses and corns

8.  I have had
bunion surgery, but they're back!  What can I do?

In this situation,
bunions could be caused by abnormal pressure placed on the great metatarsal joint, so the great toe is pushed toward the smaller toes.  As the body tries to heal itself, it sends a fluid to that joint. The buildup of calcification of this fluid causes the bunion to become more pronounced.  The Ped-Tech orthotic evens the pressure over the entire foot, reducing the stress placed on the metatarsal joint, and easing the pain.

9.  I have hip/knee pain.  How are my feet related to that?

When an individual pronates (walks on the inside of his foot) or supinates (walks on the outside of his foot), with either one foot or both, his body is out of alignment, from the ankles, right up, the knees, hips, spine, shoulders, and neck.  The Ped-Tech orthotics are custom made to correct for the problem, which realigns the entire body, and, bonus, gets rid of the pain!

10.  What causes
calluses and corns?

Calluses are caused by uneven pressure on certain parts of your feet, either by pronation or supination.  With Ped-Tech orthotics helping to correct this problem, the calluses should disappear.

Corns are caused from the shoe rubbing on the top of the toes, usually if the metatarsal arch has fallen, resulting in a muscle imbalance in the toes.

11.  My back hurts and I'm scheduled for surgery.  How can orthotics help me?

Orthotics could help prevent further deterioration of your condition, if your feet are the problem, even after surgery.

12.  My feet hurt really badly, sometimes I can't sleep because of the pain.  Will orthotics help me?

Orthotics give support to your arches and relieve the strain on your muscles, ligaments, and tendons.

13.  I've tried many orthotics, and am skeptical that Ped-Tech is any different.

Your skepticism is understandable.  The foot has four arches - metatarsal, transverse, medial, and longitudinal.   Ped-Tech Orthotics have all four arches built in, and are therefore known as the replication of a normal foot.  We also conduct a balance test, with, and without, Ped-Tech orthotics.  You have an opportunity to feel them under your feet.  They are flexible and feel comfortable, like a cushion under your feet.  With every step, the muscles, ligaments, and tendons are exercised and strengthened.

14.  What happens if they start bothering me after awhile?

As the feet change, the orthotics may need a small adjustment.  Adjustments are free at any location where there is a Ped-Tech technician.  It is not necessary to seek out the company from whom you purchased the orthotic originally.

15.  How can I tell my feet are improving?

It's a good idea to have another pedograph taken every few years or so.  This can be done at any location where there is a Ped-Tech technician.  It is not necessary to seek out the company from whom you purchased the orthotic originally.

16.  I have really thick discoloured toenails.  I've decided against medication.  What options do I have?

Reclaim AF is an excellent fungal antimicrobial treatment.  Apply a drop on the affected nail, and thoroughly rub it into the cuticle as well as under the tip of the fingernail.  Repeat this twice a day.  Be patient as it could take a bit of time, depending on the severity of the situation.  Click here for complete instructions for Reclaim AF use.
